Barre Pilates, as the name suggests, brings together the benefits of both Pilates and Ballet creating a dynamic, low impact class that strengthens, tones and challenges the whole body.
The class incorporates small isolated movement focused on fatiguing the muscles; larger range movement to elevate the heart rate and routines that incorporate both upper and lower body, resulting in a full body workout which challenges not only the body but also the mind.
A typical Barre Pilates Class includes:
A Warm Up:Â a choreographed routine which elevates the heart rate and prepares the body for the next 50 minutes
Upper Body Section:Â Using light weights with key focus on the Biceps, Shoulders and Triceps, we look to fatigue targeted muscle groups whilst keeping to the beat of the music.
Barre Work:Â typically includes 2 sections: one focused on thighs and the second on glutes and hamstrings.Â
Strength Section:Â a shorter routine which includes various forms of Planks
Abdominal Section:Â performed on the mat to target the core muscles
Stretch Out, Breathe and Relax – a great wind down to finish the class.
Â
Barre Pilates is for all ages and fitness levels. Adaptions are given for all exercises, to enable you to work at your own level and to progress at your own pace.
There is a big focus on proper alignment throughout the class to ensure a safe, more effective workout and corrections and adaptions are given throughout.Â
The exercises are done to music which helps increase endurance, and makes the class flow and a lot of fun!
